PEC's Transportation team provides a multitude of services including transportation planning, roadway and bridge design, traffic engineering and construction administration. The Highway Project Engineer position is fully supported by the entire Transportation team. The Highway Project Engineer position is available in Wichita, KS, Lawrence, KS, Topeka KS, or Kansas City, MO.

Position Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in determining project requirements, setting the project scope of work, determining design budgets, and reviewing contracts.
  • Manage multiple objectives from clients, contractors, third parties and internal interdisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive solutions.
  • Effectively communicates and coordinates with Team Lead, project managers and project teams to complete design tasks on numerous projects.
  • Develop design criteria for use by the Design Team. Utilizes design software to complete project assignments and coordinate with Design Team to produce final construction documents.
  • Perform quality control reviews at appropriate milestones. Review documents for completeness and consistency with company and client standards.
  • Involved in development of junior staff, promoting professional growth and knowledge sharing.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Minimum of a B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college.
  • Licensed PE in the state of Kansas.
  • Minimum of four years of related experience.
  • Kansas DOT design project experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of current highway design criteria. Familiarity with current Kansas DOT standards and practices preferred.
  • Familiar with Bentley Products, including OpenRoads Designer.
