Civil Design Technician

PEC's Municipal Transportation team provides a multitude of services including transportation planning, roadway and bridge design, traffic engineering and construction administration. This is a position that offers personal and professional growth in the transportation engineering field. Position Duties and Responsibilities:

• Performs design computations by hand and by computer software. Uses experience, education, and judgement to make informed decisions.

• Retains knowledge and builds on previous experiences to increase capabilities in breadth and complexity.

• Organizes multiple tasks and completes them in an orderly fashion.

• Effectively communicates and coordinates with the Engineer and other PEC Divisions in order to complete design tasks on numerous projects.

• Prepares quantity take-offs for use in construction cost estimates and engineering fee estimates.

• Reviews project submittals for compliance with design checklists and drafting standards.

• Organizes project information and drawing files in a manner that is accessible and understandable for current and future use.

• Researches and understands client drafting and CAD standards and its relevance to the design process.

Qualifications:

• Obtain certificate or degree in CAD software. Third party certification is a plus.

• Civil 3D experience with pipe networks and surface modeling preferred.

• Ability to read and understand plans and job specifications in order to implement design objectives and meet job requirements.

• Meet and understand critical deadlines through efficient time management and effective communication.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
