The Senior Highway Design Technician leads 3D modeling to support the design and production of transportation design projects. The Senior Highway Design Technician position is available in Wichita, KS, Lawrence, KS or Topeka KS.

Position Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Utilize CAD software to produce 3D models of highway corridors, intersections and interchanges for use in concept exhibits, working drawings and final construction plans, with ability to use the software tools to their full capabilities.
  • Communicates and coordinates with Team Lead, Project Managers and Engineers to complete complex 3D modeling tasks and drafting tasks on numerous projects.
  • Retains knowledge and builds on previous experiences to increase capabilities and productivity, focusing on standardizing practices to increase efficiencies.
  • Ability to organize and handle multiple project assignments.
  • Perform quality control reviews of 3D models and drawings at appropriate milestones. Review documents for completeness and compliance with drafting standards.
  • Drive innovation by staying up-to-date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Extensive knowledge of CAD modeling and production software.
  • Proficient in the use of Bentley Products, including OpenRoads ConceptStation, OpenRoads Designer and Digital iTwins is preferred.
  • Ability to read and understand plans. Familiarity with current Kansas DOT and/or Oklahoma DOT plan production standards and practices preferred.
  • Meet and understand critical deadlines through efficient time management.
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills.
